having my family there, not only supporting me, but running the race too, really helped ease my nerves. when i was near the middle of the run, the hills started to take a toll on my breathing. my chest pains started to slow me down and that’s when i ran into my cousin, who was experiencing similar difficulties. we walked together until we caught our breath and finished the race side-by-side.
the most rewarding thing was coming up the final stretch of the run, which was yet ANOTHER steep hill, and hearing the cheering of the crowd. next, see my family right there, calling my name.
i loved every minute of it.
